Janine was a member of the Robotech Defense Force as a technical officer. In 2006 she was a trainee on the SDF-1 bridge along with Claudia Grant. On their off-duty time, she encouraged Grant to have rekindle a relationship with Roy Fokker. (Robotech: From the Stars)
Later, during the SDF-1's journey back to Earth after a failed space fold, Janine was assigned to the Omni-Directional Barrier System control station.
