New Portland was founded following the Zentraedi Holocaust, otherwise known as the Rain of Death, and was located in the northeast quadrant of New Macross City. The city extended from Lake Oswego to the Columbia River. Like many cities, its main business district was built around a downed Zentraedi ship. The city came under brutal attack by renegade Zentraedi during the early years of the Reconstruction Era.
