Robotech 1 is the first issue in the comic series focusing on Robotech: The Macross Saga. It was published by Titan Comics starting in 2017, written by Brian Wood with Marco Turini handling the internal art.
Summary
The series follows a new version of Robotech: The Macross Saga, closer in line with Carl Macek's original vision.
The comic opens with the crashing of the SDF-1 on Earth, and the arrival of Breetai's Zentraedi fleet during the launch ceremonies for the SDF-1. Rick Hunter arrives and is arrested for interfering in the ceremony.
As the Zentraedi attack Macross Island, the crew prepare for takeoff. Hunter's fanjet is destroyed, so he steals a VF-1 codenamed VT-102. He can't control it, so Lisa Hayes orders him to switch to "G" mode, whereupon he lands in the city and rescues a young girl from a crashed Battlepod.

Changes from source material
- No dates are mentioned either in reference towards the crash of the SDF-1 or the scenes set in the present (in "Boobytrap", those dates were 1999 and 2009). It is still clearly stated that the crash of the SDF-1 takes place ten years prior to the main events of the story.
- Roy Fokker and a man named Hayes arrive on Macross Island shortly after the crash. This is evidently inspired by the events of "Robotech: The Graphic Novel". There are numerous figures who are arrested at the scene. It's unclear if these are meant to be Robotech Masters, or just members of another military on Earth.
