The VM-9 Silverback was a variable-mode ground vehicle used by the Robotech Expeditionary Force. It came in three models and shared many components with the Cyclones.
History
One was used by the REF, deployed from a Crusader-class dropship, to raid General T. R. Edwards' compound on Optera. (Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles: Ghosts of the Past)

- -9H: Heavy model. Adds an armored compartment and additional weapons mount.
- -9E: Espionage. Adds a reinforced pilots compartment and a sensor array on the rear, replacing the railgun.
