John was a researcher at Base Four on The Moon at the start of the Third Robotech War. He piloted the Bird Dog with Henna. On a mission at the start of the Invid invasion they were escorted by a YF-4 Lightning on its patrol. Although the escorts were destroyed when the Invid arrived, Bird Dog made it to the Earths surface and landed with both its crew alive. They found a crashed Invid Hive and took a sample of an Embryo which was revealed to have DNA of Zentraediand other life forms. They found that the Flower of Life would affect all life it comes into contact with and it stems from the use of Protoculture. (Introduction)
